Call for recruits at Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water

Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water is preparing for its 2015 apprentice recruitment campaign. The company programme currently trains 44 apprentices in a wide variety of roles, from instrumentation technicians to mechanical fitters and electricians.

The trainees will join a workforce of over 2,500 in Wales' fourth largest company as it embarks on its record £1.7 billion capital investment programme over the next five years.

Welsh Water has apprentices in training across its operating area and they spend three days a week in the workplace and two days at a local college. The apprenticeship framework lasts four years and the non-shareholder company is currently preparing to open applications in April for its 2015 recruits.

Ynyr Roberts, 20, one of Welsh Water's apprentice electricians, said: "I knew I wanted to do an apprenticeship since the second year of college as I thought it would be the perfect opportunity to learn new skills and progress further in the working environment and at the same time getting paid."
