Have your say on the future of drainage, wastewater and environmental water quality in your area
For the first time, consultations have been launched seeking views on long-term management plans for drainage and flood risk across England and Wales.
Drainage and Wastewater Management Plans (DWMPs) are new statutory 25-year plans that look holistically at how drainage and flood risk are managed. The draft plans have been developed by water companies, in collaboration with local authorities, regulators, and other businesses and organisations who operate drainage infrastructure.
Once finalised, DWMPs will shape water company investment plans at each Price Review and inform the sector’s response to challenges such as resilience to climate change, population growth, and improving river health.
Water UK led the development of the DWMP framework back in 2018, and today’s publication marks the start of an important opportunity for stakeholders to have their say on each company’s plan.
The DWMP consultation period runs until September.
