Water UK is co-convening the official opening of the first-ever Water Pavilion at COP26, in Glasgow, from November 1 and will be hosting a series of events at the global conference.

With guest speakers and contributors from across the world, it’s the perfect opportunity to learn more about the industry’s net zero ambitions and how cross-sector leadership is bringing about real benefits, as well as the important role the water industry has in climate leadership and tackling the climate emergency.

All our events will be shown live online, and we hope you can join us for what promises to be a busy and exciting week, with interesting topics and speakers.

The events are:

Monday 1 November, 8:30am – 9:40am: Official opening followed by The Race to Zero and Resilience, unleashing water’s power (Water Pavilion, Blue Zone). Hosted by Water UK CEO Christine McGourty with contributions from Anglian Water (UK), Barwon Water (Australia), and Miami Dade Water and Sewer Department (US). Tuesday 2 November, 1:30pm – 2:30pm: Unlocking the Nature/Net Zero balance (Tower Base South, Green Zone). Hosted by Christine McGourty with a keynote from Natural England’s Chair, Tony Juniper, and contributions from Scottish Water, RSPB, Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust, Woodland Trust, and E3G. Friday 5th November, 11:30am – 2:30pm: Dedicated Water Day for the Race to Zero where Water UK will be speaking at the Marrakech Partnership Water Action Eventon the Race to Zero and process emissions. You can watch online here

Thursday 11th November, 4pm – 5:30pm: In competition or collaboration? Nature and net zero. Joint event with Bright Blue on nature and net zero. Watch the event here.

We’ll also be talking about the role of water in tackling the climate emergency across our social media platforms. We’ll be featuring many of the amazing water company projects helping to reduce the sector’s carbon emissions as well as the people delivering on our 2030 Net Zero commitment. Water companies in England are working towards a ground-breaking plan to deliver a net zero water supply for customers by 2030 in the world’s first sector-wide commitment of its kind.

Water UK is also proud to be official partner to the Race to Zero campaign. Led by the UN’s High-Level Climate Champions for Climate Action, the Race to Zero is a global campaign, rallying non-state actors – including companies, cities, regions, financial, educational, and healthcare institutions – to take rigorous and immediate action to halve global emissions by 2030 and deliver a healthier, fairer zero carbon world in time.
